using 500G hard drive--Happy New Year!?

I 'd like buy a 300--500G hard drive to hook up to my only 500 mHz laptop through USB 1.o port (using regular hard drive ) or RJ45 port (using network(ing) attached storage Hard drive) does it work?? thank and Happy New Year

as long as the ports are able to connect then you should be fine, make sure it comes with drivers because usually windows wont detect anything over 120gig hard drives.
