We all do it. Its really a natural way of survival, in some instances. Our brains are like computers and we are driven to classify information and people (quickly), to file the information and person into a category. When its done this way (naturally) its innocent. It boils down to the intention behind it. When judging is done with a malicious, negative intent, people tend to judge because there is something that they don't like about themselves and its easier to put others down.

Bigotry unfortunately is as old as society itself. People better their own self-views by scapegoating members of other groups. People also prejudge people who are different because they fear what they do not understand. Judgements come from stereotypes that are instilled by society and perpetuated. The best way to avoid prejudgement is to remember that each person is an individual and a product of genetic/environmental influences.
