Most companies were in a financial crunch in 2006. The people that I have talked to did not get a raise, a few got a Christmas Thank You from a can ham to $100.00.

When I worked for the school district we went three years without a raise. The reason was that they had put in the budget to hire administrator to come up with away to save more money!!! The administrator that they hired started out with a $80,000 annual salary.

Amazing how some people think!!

There is a reason that job stands for just Over Broke. I know this is a little out of the range of your question but something saddens me and that is the fact that most middle class Americans will retire broke. In order for a young person to even maintain the life style they have now when they reach retirement will most likely need about 1.5 million invested just to live their retirement years out. So talking about raises is only shooting a BB gun at a tank .There are other types of legit business models out there besides four walls and a time clock and people think if it's not a job then it's a scam but I think working to retire broke is the scam. The only difference between me and every body else is I choose not to accept this as my reality and if that makes me a freak then I will gladly wear the crown.

Hmmm...well...if you really want to know...two words will be good to put into your dictonary. Non-Profit. That means, when you work for a company like that-you DON'T get raises and if you are lucky enough to get ONE it will be from 8.03 an hour to 8.11 a hour. (Social Services pay shi**y too.) I got an 8 cent raise for having completed my Associates degree. Big whoopie DO! My co-worker got her 5 YEAR raise. Know what it was? 60 cents! That is 12 cents a year! Wow! Now we can both start saving for that nice boat that we want...ops. I'm sorry. I guess you thought that eveyone gets a dollar raise each year. yeah right.

The economy was good in Year 2006. Unfortunately, to many companies especially large corporations, profits will never be enough because they need to feed those Directors. My guess for the raise ranges from 2% to 8%.

I'm self-employed. This raise concept is alien to me. However, sales were down, my compensation was down, but taxes and government fees had a very healthy year.

Zero...
The likelihood of future pay rises are in doubt due to globalisation and the availability of cheaper labour overseas.
