Most mystery shopper emails are scams. However there are some that are legitimate but they don't pay well. I once did it for Caribou Coffee.

Stay away from CashCreate, Treasure Trooper and other survey Web sites.
It is a waste of time and will cause you unhappiness.
If you choose to be suckered in and sign up to take surveys and receive, free trials considered you were warned. The minute you give them your credit card and personal information you have now opened your computer to unwanted cookies on your hard drive, annoying pop-up windows and if you are on a PC you open your computer to viruses that can wipe you out.
A lot of work to collect the "reward payments" that payout is not worth the effort over time. You will need to sign up for many types of offers, most of which require you to use a credit card. You start a week trial service with varies types of businesses or services, such as, an Internet service provider, book club, credit monitoring service, etc. to get your reward. If you don't cancel the trial, you end up being charged for the service and each service has different rules about how and when you can cancel. Very cumbersome!
Since you will need to sign up for at least a dozen offers before you get to $100 in rewards, it's very easy to forget what you have signed up for, or the problems you will have canceling in time to to be charged the full amount. The Cash Create recruiters you see here over exaggerate how much money you can earn because once you've done the high-dollar trials ($8-10 each), you are left with small rewards of a dollar or two. The survey business is not an efficient way to make money and you are more than likely to loose money in the end.

I've worked as a mystery-shopper myself in the past and it is legit. Mystery shoppers can be used by other businesses who are interested in learning more about their competition and also internally by business management who are interested in learning more about their own service offerings. Not much money or regularity in this work, but I got a few nice dinners out of offering my critiques of local restaurants.
You could probably just "google" search "mystery shopping" on the Internet and come up with a number of companies interested in hiring you.

if you google on "mystery shopper" you will find a bunch of companies...I used to do some mystery shopping but to me it's not worth the trouble. I worked for a company called serviceevaluation.com which was pretty fair and convenient but the pay isn't that great and there is a lot of competition for assignments. I also did it for another company (i forget the name) that wasn't so great. to make a decent amount of money at it you have to do it for multiple companies. They offten make you answer a long, long questionaire about the shopping experience, asking for every detail like is there lint on the carpet in the store... and some companies may withhold payment for any little reason, like if they didn't like your answers. Be careful in particular about anyplace that requires you to make an up-front investment or where you have to buy something and get reimbursed, this can be a ripoff if youre not careful. but there is a certain amount of risk required on your part.

Yes, mystery shopper is real however most opportunities are scams. It's better to market yourself as a quality control expert and help businesses improve their service with a mystery shopping audit.

They are real, I've done... lets see... three maybe? in my life. They're hard to come by. But here's the best advice... do a search online and ONLY ONLY sign up for the free sites and they'll send you assignments. I really have gotten paid. Pretty cool, but the check takes FOREVER to come in and the jobs are scarce
