I'm thinking of buying a ring on ebay. I've been watching it for a couple weeks. I check it a couple times a day and more and more I think I'd really regret it if someone else bought it. (Which is always the measuring stick I use to determine whether I really need something.)

The ring is 10k gold and costs $45 U.S. plus $10 shipping to Canada. But Florida to Canada is a long way...

Has anyone else ever bought jewellery on ebay? I never have and have pretty much only bought things for up to $25.

The seller is a Power Seller, has 99.9% feedback, with 2200 feedbacks received and has an ebay store specializing in jewellery, and the listing offers $1250 buyer protection through Paypal. (Does this mean Paypal will cover it if it never gets here? Or should I still ask for mailing insurance too?)

Does this sound like a good idea??? I mean it won't break the bank if something happens, but I'd be really disappointed and I don't want the hassle...

Thanks for your experience!!

You can trust this seller. Go for it if you like the ring so much.
I have sold very expensive jewelry on ebay and everyone was happy.

yeah i brought something before be and it was supposed to be 14k and after a couple of months it turned green!! before buying from sellers that guaranteed 14k or anything make sure if this product is something can be taken as a loss. anyone can write anything they want, so be careful. the best advice i will offer is to read their feedback score before you purchase anything from them. if it seems too good to be true, than it is.
Another important thing, look at their RETURN POLICY. This is how some people get stuck with items they aren't happy with. However, in your case this seller seems to be good. the price is reasonable and in they have good feedback score. I would check their return policy before bidding then if everything is fine, you got yourself a deal.

Pay pal is reliable and safe to transact. I can give you a link that deals with Payapl & Ebay transactions through Paypal. PayPal is one of the most popular online money transfer systems widely used for online auctions, pay to surf programs, e-books and purchase of low value goods. It is now a part of the online auction website eBay. More details available at

it isnt "jewlrey from ebay" that turns your neck green. you dont buy something from ebay and BAM just because it came from there it is bad. that wouldnt make any sense at all.. people post all kinds of things from cheap to exspensive..and it all depends on your seller, what you bought, and how much it cost, if you got it for 4 bucks its gonna be worth 4 bucks.. if your displeased just return and get your refund

Yes I have bought jewelry on E-Bay and was very satisfied. You can request insurance if you want it, it will only be like $1.45 or not more than 2.50 added to the item. I requested priority mail and a confirmation no on my jewelry when I ordered mind. it got to me real fast.
