I believe your baby leopard may very well learn to live and share with your birds, if you teach him.

Wild animals tend to make truces in masters' homes, but don't rely on my word.

I had a coati and a fox terrier and they were best friends, although in the wild the coati would have eviscerated the dog in no time at all.

Good luck with your leopard and my deepest envy. Boy, you are fortunate to have such an animal at home!

You do know that your leopard will outgrow house life quickly. Within 2 years the cat will be full grown and need plenty of outdoor room. You can forget about your birds too because when a big cat becomes full size, they will insticintivly chase anything they would in the wild. You have worked with big cats before so you should know this already!

As a cub she should not bother your things too much, but you will have to keep the birds away from her at all times because you never know when the instincts will kick in. She won't stay little for long!

If you are seriously considering taking care of this animal, and you have the habitat time and experience to take her in, i would get rid of the other animals, i would give them to a home that does NOT have a leopard. And though you have worked with big cats before, have they ever been in your home? I see the shows on animal planet about people who take care of big cats, and i understand there is a need for this, i am just worried that if she stays in your HOUSE she might get you one time, whether it be on accident or on purpose. I think you should do some more research, and maybe talk to someone who has done this before. Good Luck, i hope the baby leopard finds a good place to stay.

First off, you should know if you have the room, space, and time for the leopard. They aren't like housecats. Their instinct is to go after anything that is orginally in the place they live naturally. I would get rid of the birds and the fish and other things. You really need to look into all the advantages and disadvantages before getting a leopard. Maybe if you can only keep it until it gets bigger, you could foster it, until it is large enough for a zoo or a sancuary to take it, because it will get very expensive after a while.

Also if you live in the US you need a wildlife keeper permitt.

to me, it doesnt sound like a great idea only beacause it probably will eat or harm the birds and fish. My suggestion is to put the birds and fish in a "certain place", that would be out of reach to a leopard. A pet leopard seems like a fun pet. Dont pass down the offer, especially if you have a good place for it and you really like it. Have a lot of fun with your new leopard! I wish ya the best of luck! :)

What are you going to do when she get's bigger? I say if your willing to adopt such an animal as a leopard, you should get rid of all your other pets or she will for you! Whether she sleeps in the wild or sleeps on your sofa she'll always have the urge to hunt. Say goodbye to Polly and Nemo.

I agree this big cat would need alot of room to play and run, and although it is not a wild cat, it is not far off from the chain. Its prey drive would make it unpredictable and I wouldnt want that on my conciense, with kids neighbors or other animals.
Not to mention you would have to get a perment in the US, if you live there of course.

In almost every county in every state it's illegal to own a leopard or other type of big cat. If your friend works with these type of animals he/she should already know this.

It will almost definitely chase your other pets. Big cats are not appropriate pets for homes, so unless you're able to provide it a habitat of its own, you should pass.

She'd be better off giving it to a zoo if they'll take it.
