Spiro Agnew was Nixons vice president and had to resign due to unethical behavior. Nixon then appointed Ford to be his vice president as is directed by the 25th amendment. When Nixon resigned due to Watergate, Ford became president.

In 1976, Bob Dole ran with Ford for Vice President. Walter Mondale ran with Jimmy Carter.

for (Ford) became president when Nixon resigned and turned the office over to his Vice-Prez. who was Ford. Nobody was running for Vice because there was no election going on. Ford picked Nelson Rockefeller to be his Vice.

Ford was the "accidental president" after Nixon stepped down (or more forced down) with that big scandal. Rockefeller was his vice-p.
