Isn't abortion the needless killing and termination of a pregnancy "inhumane"? Isn't the child innocent? I have heard some people state that it's a woman's choice whether she wants to have children or not, but here's a hint - if you don't want to have kids, use contraception. It does work. We all know the risks of unprotected sex, so why not practice what we know about it?
The only way abortion should even be legal should be in the case of extreme medical emergencies where the method of contraception failed and the medical emergency can be proven. Rape victims are not an exception. There are other methods, such as adoption for that scenario.
You can't just decide to marry two totally different and complex issues into one question like this.
My answer to this: First of all, yes it is, because it's the same thing.
What you're really asking is if it's okay to kill unborn babies, then why is it wrong to kill a murderer?
My answer to this: The murderer committed a horrendous crime, and is likely to commit murder again if not stopped. Life in prison could be a choice, but if the person is in there for consecutive life sentences, shouldn't the death penalty be a better alternative to keeping and paying for someone who's going to die in prison anyway?
Terminating a pregnancy isn't murder for starters, it's a choice, plain and simple, and there should be no moral judgements made against a woman who doesn't want children.
My answer: Yes, it is murder. Life begins at the moment of conception, and when there's a beating heart, there's life. If the woman doesn't want children, she should be either using protection or not having sex. Plain and simple.
And two, killing a murderer solves nothing and doesn't bring the murdered person back. Better to put them to work in jail.
My answer: Again, keeping a murderer in prison does no good if they're serving life sentences. Get it done and over with. They've committed a crime, give some justice and peace to the family.
Next time ask the real question, not the fake.
My answer: What is the real question by your definition?
You all aren't looking at the real picture on this.

Well thats what makes a horse race pal. Does every conservative beleive in the death penalty? I doubt it. In fact I beleive that most of the people who oppose the death penalty are Christians. I personally don't think it was a wise move to kill saddam. I think the symbol of their fearless leader being broken and confined in a tiny cell would have had a greater impact on their moral than turning him into a martyr.
I'm as liberal as they come but I still don't subscribe to every notion that could be considered liberal. I think people like you are just trying to polarize this country even more than it is. You are divisive. You are "a clear and present danger" to the unity of this nation. I submit to you now that you and people like you have no desire to "enlighten" us liberals. Rather, you want to alienate us and create disharmony.
I think that the one thing that you conservatives hate the most about us is that we don't beleive in the legislation of morality. I don't beleive that the gubmint has a right to tell people what they can do with their own bodies. That includes but is not limited to telling a woman she can not terminate a prenancy or that a person can not smoke weed in their liviing rooms. I would not choose an abortion but who am I to tell the next person they can't choose it either.
I went to Valley Forge Military Academy and I would probably still be in the military if I hadn't gotten really messed up in car accident. I am a liberal but I would go to Iraq if I could if for no other reason so that someone else didn't have to go. I don't support the war but I would be there if I could.
I live in Texas and I don't like Mexicans coming up here snagging jobs from Americans(that includes naturalized citizens), but I'm liberal. I'm a liberal and I own guns and I hunt. I also have gay freinds and I smoke pot. Not everyone fits your notion of what a liberal is or a conservative for that matter.
You throw the word liberal around like its a dirty word.
Chew on that for a while.

You have created what is referred to as a false dilemma (go look it up).
You also make general assumptions.
I don't believe that the death penalty is "wrong," but if that is so - in other words, if we can "dispatch" another human being, regardless of justification - then we have to respect the living wills; the wishes of the terminally ill, etc.
Apparently, you have no problem justifying the death penalty. I'm guessing that you can also live with euthanizing a loved pet.
I'm not comparing humans to animals; I'm making a logical distiction.
If you can "justify" dealing death in some situations, then you can "justify" it in others.
As far as abortion is concerned, I think that if people had full access to contraception (I'm talking about YOUNG people here), we'd hopefully have LESS abortions.
What I'm saying is, I don't think that you - or a lot of people - have fully come to terms with dealing in death and where it's "acceptable" and where it isn't.
You approve of the death penalty; how do you feel about torture? That's another discussion, but totally relevant to this discussion.

I guess you take the concervative responce on both issues, giving you a tough explanation also...
I am pro-choice because I don't consider the fetuses humans. Since they aren't out yet, I don't consider them life. Do you consider abstinence from procreation wrong, because your basically preventing life from occuring. Personally, I agree with you that abortions are wrong, and I wouldn't have one, but I think everyone should be able to make their own decesion about it. I'm in high school and women's lives get ruined if they have to drop out and care for a baby.
In terms of Saddam, I do believe two wrongs don't make a right. Since his killings were wrong, what does that make killing him? I think you also have to consider the fact that thousands times many more Iraqi civiliians have died in the Iraq war,so I believe a better justification could be made for the hanging of Bush. also FYI, the U.S. supported Saddam during the time of the murdurs he's convicted of, so should we execute our leaders too. I think we should just stop killing ppl and the Middle East would be a lot less mad at us and they might stop killing us. Just an idea...

no, not saying that whatsover! get off it!
abortion serves a functional aspect in society, unless you would like to support the welfare mothers through increased taxation.
I have yet to see you people at abortion clinics willing to pay for the expenses of the birth, and taking care of the child. its a sad fact, but abortion realistically serves a purpose for everyone is society.
personally i am against abortion, not the death penalty, but i am against the martyrdom of Saddam Hussein. he should have been hung after the war was over.
I am also against the fed deciding what i may and may not do. you people should take that stuff to the state legislatures where it belongs!!

If apples are red, why are some oranges hard to peel? As in your question, one has nothing to do with the other.
Those who would abort babies would claim they are not people. Unfortunately, citizens have some rights, but the definition of citizen is "one born..."
Not born, no rights. Sad, isn't it?

The problem with your argument is liberals will say that a fetus is not a child. I agree with your premise.

if pro-choice was really about women's rights wouldn't you have to wait to have your abortion til you knew the sex of the child so that you could give the 'little' women their right to live? And you could then just kill all the baby boys bc they don't get rights?
