If it takes the shape of a container.....Once you can mix it, it is a solution...you don't have solid and gaseous solutions..... I think what you're asking is how do you know if a mixture is a solution (rather than suspension or colloid) ....
If so then, you know a mixture is a solution if all the particles are dissolved in the mixture...(if not: suspension) or is not milky in appearance (colloid).
eg. Salt and water is a solution since the salt dissolves as opposed to sand and water (suspension)

Well when you can pour it and it goes into another container. But your have to properly mix the mixtures together to get a liquid. And well it feels like water or liquidy, you know waterish.
