I tried to always listen, even when it was tedious and boring. Listening generally pays a dividend in better grades.

I always listened, once I got out of high school, unless it was a classmate who I knew always had something stupid to say. Teachers might slip in announcements, changes to assignments, connections between the material and something you have to write or take a test on, etc., and it's really important not to miss that.
One time, however, the professor went an hour and a half over class time, and it was a night class, and I zoned out a bit in the last 20 minutes, only to discover she was talking about hummingbirds for some reason (it was a literature class). Tres surreal.

I always listen in class even if the subject is not interesting to me. If the lecture is boring to me I to dose off and think about other things. Since I am a university student it is hard to keep grades up if someone doesn't pay attention. One way to keep your attention on the professor or teacher is to take notes.

I try to listen all the time, but sometimes when it was a late night the night before it's hard. Some other times it's so difficult because the people talking are so freakin boring.

People can hear, but not listen.
Information goes in, but does not sink in.
It goes in one ear and out of the other.
Either than, or the teacher cannot talk any sense which is too often the case.
I never saw the piont in teaching where a teacher says "Don't ask questions!" That defeats the object of learning; unless you expect them to guess.

Depends on the class. I don't even show up to most of lectures in one module because i find the work disturbingly easy and the notes are avabile on the web. But one of my other modules very difficult so i haven't missed a lecture since the start of the year.

Well depends which class, and which class I really need to listen in, like science, I have to listen to everything, that is not the case in social studies though. It also depends on how well I'am doin in each class.

Listening is important because even if its boring you , listen and decide why its boring, Once you know why it bores you you can learn it in another way.

If it is a subject matter that I am really interersted...I will be glued to that teacher's every word. If not, wake me up when she's done yapping. : )
