America is good at telling other countrie what to do, but they set a very poor example.
They claim they are fighting to give people freedom, but yet their own people are over taxed, over regulated and some are condemmed to a life of servitude.
America is not a free nation they claim to be!

Of course Capital Punishment should be legal. Its a great way to deter crime. The only fault with it for me, is the innocents that get caught up in it. The U.S. is famous for saying, "better that 100 guilty go free than 1 innocent should go to jail." However, as a U.S. citizen, that is not the case. Its a matter of the more money you have the better your representation, and the less you have, the worse your chances are to be represented fairly.
I still believe in Capital Punishment, but I also believe in Euthanasia, which Oregon has legalized with the help of a Doctor. So, I'm not sure if Oregon still has it on the books, but I hope so. I know Dr. Kevorkian will soon be released from jail. Thank God!
Besides, if you commit suicide who is going to arrest you?

Are you on death row or life imprisonment or sitting at home or in your office someplace speaking for another? I don't know which is actually more comfortable dying or wishing that you could? I mean just because it solves your conscious not to kill, this is a dumb bandwagon to get started on. Let each speak for themself. If they would stop committing killings against others wills wouldn't that be better then speaking for one that you might not really know what they want? Just the same as suicide if a person really wants to do it why should one try to stop them? We all do though? We are simply infringing on other peoples rights. Laws can often be made for good reasons and still be bad overall laws do you agree?

The death penalty is a punishment.
Suicide is often attempted by people who are distraught and who, after treatment and/or therapy go on to live a full life. Suicidal people are only a danger to themselves, whereas the condemned person is usually a threat to society as a whole.
As for changing any laws; since you are not in the US, I don't think you have the right to suggest any changes.

First, the US government had NOTHING to do with Saddam's execution. He was tried by an Iraqi court in Iraq, judged by an Iraqi jury and executed according to Iraqi law.
If Saddam had been an American he'd be assured of dying of old age in prison before his last appeal dried up. Few prisoners get executed at all, except in Texas, where you can see the line moving. (Texas is one of few states that Gets It.)
You don't get a death penalty in mopst states merely by killing someone. You have to kill someone as part of another crime. Rapes+murder = death penalty, for example.
If you ever had a loved one suffer a horrible torture/murder, you might rethink your ideas about the death penalty. Its simply the final extension of the concept of holding people responsible for their own actions.

I would agree if our prison system weren't an improvement for many criminals. Examples need to be set, it just needs to be enforced everywhere. How effective is the death penalty as a deterrent if the entire country isn't on board? Not effective at all.

In the u.s, it is perfectly legal to off yourself (at least in my state) and in the state or oregon, euthanasia is too, if you are terminally ill. You just have to do it right the first time (if you are killing yourself), or you can get committed to the hospital for a little while until you promise never to do it again

suicide is not illegal in all jurisdictions -- homicide involves the killing "of another"
one reason euthanasia is illegal is because *some* people who are suffering may not be in the proper mental state to authorize someone to help with their death - with such an irreversible decision, every step should be taken to ensure that the decision isn't made by those who aren't 100% sure of what they want

Suicide isn't illegal... how would you prosecute the person???
Assisted suicide is illegal mainly because so many people in this country feel it's a slippery slope between someone actively wanting help and someone who's incapacitated being "helped" out the door.

You are right about that, they might as well make it legal because they do everything against the bible anyway.they have all these other bad things that are legal like Baby murder that a lot of evil people use for Birth control and other God awful things they might as well make Suicide legal.
