Majestic, How can you say that the country was safer when Saddam was in power? HE was responsible for causing 2 wars with is neighbors (Iran and Kuwait) which led to the deaths of more than a million people on both sides...I would also like to speak for the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and Kurds who can't because they were murdered and buried in mass graves...I don't think they would agree that Iraq was better under Saddam.

I don't feel sad that a madman like Saddam is dead...I would have preferred it if his request for being executed by firing squad was honored...after all he was a military commander.

Im having a crisis of conscience over the hanging of Saddam. I know the guy killed alot of people, and was a tyrant. But it cannot be argued that the country was alot safer under his rule. And the reasons we went in to remove him, have entirely faltered. I mean, Im not trying to excuse this guy...he was horrible. But, it seems like we're executing a man who, in retrospect, should never have been deposed in the first place. I think anytime you can take a dictator out of power, its a good thing. But we havent found WMD's, basically plunged the country into civil war... So, what good did we do? People no longer need to fear Saddam, but they need now to fear the up and coming and warring tribes who, essentially, just took his place. It's a cycle that never ends and never will end. Will the deaths keep coming? We traded one tyrant for 3 groups of tyrants. AND...now, looking in hindsight, it looks like we quite illegally deposed Saddam, and, are responsible for his death.
The bigger question here is who do I feel sorry for, you or saddam. I pity your desire to not see that death is a sad thing and being hung is even scarier. Fear has no limits, apparently, morality doesnt either.

just because you have been brain-washed by the media dosnt mean the rest of the world has. the media can make the worst people look like the best and visa versa.
im not saying saddam is the best or anything, i just believe he was made out to be somthing that he waznt.
and now look at the mess the americans have made, and cant clean up.
the lie upon lies that they told to get their in the 1st place. and yet you continue to believe what you are told.

I feel sorry for Saddam because he was a Human being created by God whom the Devil took control of. Just as the Devil took control of him he is also trying to do the same to every other living human being. We feel sorry when ever anyone is killed because we as humans were created to love one another. I believe he deserve what he got. I also feel sorry for him because he could of did better, but he chose not to. Remember, God is LOVE.

Most of us don't.... but I guess many still want to say "but he was a human being too" or want to add moral reasoning to the discussion. All I know is that he was a BAD man and saddly though he's gone there will be 100 more in his place... and that's what worries me the most.

Well, it's not that I feel sorry for him, but I didn't want the death to happen because the suunis and shiites will fight because of his death, and that could start a civil war in Iraq. Also, it could encorage the death penalty more.

Normal people (meaning people with common sense and a sense of justice) will not mourn his death.
Only people who benefited from his regime of terror like the Sunnis and Baathists feel sorry for their "hero".

The ones that feel sorry for him are the wimps that did not have relatives that were killed or tortured by him. The same wimps that feel sorry for anyone, as long as that person did not offend them.

being evil in real life isn't black and white
we would like to see everyone live and not have to die that is why we feel sorry for him
there's a reason purpose for every action and he must have some brains to be dictator
