She has been smoking for 6 months I found out and claims she quit 4 days ago... me being a non smoker, I can smell it very well, and she just claims it takes awhile to get out of her system.... can anyone send me some incite on if its the truth or not plz.

Yes I realize this is a trust issue... as I never smoked before, I dont want a problem to arise if it doesn't have to. I don't want to get all worried and crazy about something I have no clue about.

She's still smoking if it's on her breath. If she was a heavy smoker, it might take a few days for it to stop coming out of her pores after quitting, but I think she's hiding it from you.

I used to sneak around and smoke when I was married to a non-smoker. This went on for 10 years, so I do have some experience with this subject.

If someone has been smoking for a while, it will take about a month for the nicotine to completely leave their system. During that time you will most likely be able to still smell it somewhat if she is breathing heavy (like during sex or whatever) because it is still in her lungs. You probably wouldn't smell it if you were just sitting next to her while she was talking or something like that, unless you were very close up. You might want to see if you can smell of her fingers. Maybe you could play around and act like you are kissing her hand and thanking her for something that she does for you, or find some other way to do it that fits your personality. This may sound tricky, but if you really want to know if she's lying, it could work.

Smell of the clothes she has taken off and put in the dirty clothes hamper or wherever. If you still smell it on them... well - do I need to say more?

Former smoker...11 years smoke free after 10 years and countless times trying to quit. Be compassionate...also, she needs to have her teeth cleaned. Yep, along with it being in her system, it's in her teeth. I'm not talking about cosmetic purposes, but for quitting purposes. The reason her breath smells like smoke is because she's still at it, however, once she gets serious, she'll need to see the dentist.

i am afraid if she smells and tastes of it, she is still smoking, you will notice an obvious difference almost straight away, on the first day without a fag. however, don't go in too heavy handed, it is one of the most difficult things to do and she will need support, not mistrust or criticism.

this is not a question about "insight" into smoking residue-- this is an issue of trust and communication between you and your wife....
