Of course, assuming that Hoffman and Rivera are going.

zakatak - I agree on Rivera but Mo and Hoffman only led the league in saves twice, Lee Smith did it four times. I think they all deserve it, plus Gossage to usher in the era of the Hall of Fame closer!

Lee was one of the pioneers. All he ever did was save games, he was never a starter. He was one of those guys that started with alot of innings (2-3 innings a relief appearance) then later was the late-inning specialist closer. he excelled at both, did it for almost 20 years, pitched in over 1,000 games and accumulated almost 500 saves! He deserves it.

Yes with one change. Goose Gossage was the closer of that era during Lee Smith's time. Lee hurt his career by hanging on a while. His best years were with the Cubs and Cards but he played all over the place. Goose Gossage scared the hell out of batters. Gosse should go before Lee.

Rivera can't be compared to any pitcher. The reason he is going into the hall is not his regular season stats, but rather for his clutch pitching performances in the playoffs and all of the hardware he has won with the yanks. Hoffman has always been consistent, but if he gets in is b/c he was dominant in the regular season, maybe top closer in the game. But lee smith pitched for a loooonnngggg time so we call him a stat piler, meaning he wasn't dominating put has the most saves b/c he pitched for a while.
