Current Social Security and state aid laws deny financial assistance if a person has more than $3,000 in assets. That also includes a car, stock, bonds, life insurance, etc. Therefore, a disabled person must sell everything he owns and spend that money before he/she can apply for assistance (which can take 2 years to receive) I may be wrong but, it sounds like the government is trying to selectively remove the disabled from society. Hmmm...I was just thinking...If I own a refrigerator that keeps my food cold, I'd have to sell it before I could apply for assistance to buy food. Does anyone see a trend here? I think our president made a mistake. He should believe in the "trickle-down" theory, not the "trickle-on" theory. Anyone suggest anything?

Have you applied for social security disability? If you have a valid disability that keeps you from earning a living - you would be able to draw disability. There are attornies that would not cost you since you would be unable to afford one. I assume, you being disabled, that you probably use some prescription drugs. "Free Card.Us" which you can obtain on the Internet will allow you a discount on your prescriptions. You would be eligible for fuel assistance and the PACE card for prescriptions actually. Hope some of these suggestions may be of help to you. Are you able to work at a desk job; maybe check with an agency which deals with the disabled and get educated for such work. If you know of no one else to contact - be in touch with your local Agency on Aging - I'm sure they would have some suggestions or tell you whom to contact. Agency on Aging works with the elderly and the disabled. If I were in your shoes I'd be calling all kinds of agencies and my local state representative (they are very helpful).

First, our president is an ****** who doesn't know his face from his butt. I would suggest taking the money out of the bank and keeping it in a safe place. Then just don't mention that you have any money. I know getting on SS can take a while. BUT if you have a physician or psychologist who can verify your illness or incapacity, you will have a lot better chance. You may need a lawyer to get this resolved, I know someone who even contacted our state's senators to help. Within about a month, the money started coming in. Be persistant. Don't give up!

It is the way the system work. The fact of the matter is that there has been too much abuse and fraud and the ones that truely needed get screwed. I doubt you have to sell your frig, but in any case consider this. If you have a stash of cash in a place other than the bank, who would know, other than you ? If you were denied benefits contact a Social Security disability attorney, they work on a contingency basis and only take 25% of your back due benefits.

If you are drawing disability Social Security it is tax free and there is no limit as to what you can own. No one is saying you can not have money, cars, life insurance, stocks, bonds etc. someone has given you the wrong answers. Now if you are drawing Welfare, thats a different bowl of worms. You may be getting welfare (State Aid) because you did not pay in enough social security taxes to qualify for disability Social Security. You better check out your sources and see who is shooting who a crock of shi*t.

Well once you learn the rules, you just take all your money out of the savings then and sell everything you have to. Once you get the SSN started you can get your life insurance and other stuff back. Sell your car to a family member cheap or give as a gift then after you get your SSN then like I said, get everything back.

I know losers like you hate Bush, and your not a loser because your disabled, it is becase you hate Bush so much you don't even know or care to know the facts which is that Bush has not changed anything with Social Security (except increasing benefits for cost of living), and it was the same under Clinton (benefits).

In regards to your situation, I would suggest you hide the assets, take the money out of the bank, tell them you spent it on drugs or hookers, your allowed to have a refrigerator. Put the car in someone elses name or tell them someone stole it.

A liberal like you should know how to lie, cheat and abuse the system.

Ask a Democrat who is on welfare, they can give you some tips.

Hi, I know this is hard for you. I don't think it includes appliances like. It includes cars, bank account, stocks, bonds, things like that. You can apply for medicaid for medical help, if you have not already. You can also apply for food stamps they will give you a card, not actual stamps. I know people who struggle and they make to much to get help. It annoys me how we can let people in our country suffer. Goodluck to you.
