In any critical discussion of anything, there is good and bad, then even evil.

Like the angels, good and evil.
We have doctors most who help people, some kill.
We have teachers most who help students some who prey on them.

Well let us look at feminism, most who look to do good for society, and women in particular, but who are the evil ones, and what is their background or agenda ?

There can be positive and negative consequences of anything, but I don't think there always HAS to be "evil".

In any group of people (including the general population) there are some evil people. I acknowledge that, but I think of any group of people there is probably a lot less evil among feminists (who are just trying to work for the rights of women and others) than there is some other groups, such as corporate people, politicians, people who work for government agencies, some entertainers, some groups aimed at working with children, etc.

Being a "feminist" is a having a philosophy and/or working to promote women's interests. It isn't a career, such as doctor or teacher, as you have mentioned.

Your choice to want to single out feminists and root out some examples of evil (if anyone on here even has any) is an example of the type of resentment that feminists have always dealt with because so many people can't stand the women who have "the audacity" to want things improved for their own gender.

Any doctors, teachers, nurses, mothers, waitresses, writers, or anyone else who say, "I'd like to do some work on behalf of women" or "I consider myself a feminist" are the "feminists" you're talking about - and among them, I honestly don't think there's a whole lot of evil.

Feminists are not alien monsters who have come down from Mars to take over the world and destroy it in the process. Some people don't believe in "evil angels" either.

People on this site are so often so afraid of "those horrible feminists" (which is a term that was kind of used more in the seventies than it generally is these days) they think up question after question about "femininsts". Good Lord. Isn't it a bizarre thing that people who want nothing more than an equal place at the table, equal rights, equal respect, and equal value in this world are so feared by people who can't imagine that such aims could possibly be moral and right.

Well, what is the evil of equality? That's what feminism is: equality as it relates to women specifically. So what're the bad points about equality?

I think any problems are not from feminism itself, but from people who move so far away from misogyny that they end up becoming misandronists. There are, unfortunately, those who decide that men are evil. That's not feminism, as feminism is the doctrine that men and women are inherently equal, but some have decided to lump feminism in with misandry. They overshot equality on the continuum and went right into the oppression of men instead. I'm not saying that lots of feminists have done this, but male-bashing can be a problem.

I think most of the other so-called problems of feminism are more areas where our society has not caught up with feminism. For instance, many women work two jobs now- keeping house and outside work. Society hasn't caught up to the point yet where men and women share equally in the housework and the childrearing as a matter of course. Society is still miles away from easing the burden of working and raising kids- how many offices have flextime and daycare centers? Until society has caught up with basic feminist principles, women are going to have to deal with impossible choices.

Equal wages simply means earning the same amount (over a lifetime) as a male in the same career/position. Another thing that feminists are looking to gain is the ability to advance as far in their career as a man (breaking the "glass ceiling"), as this would also help create the equal wage.

We don't expect to make the same amount as an architect if our career consists of selling newspapers.

There are no specific women in Feminism that are "evil" as you call it. However, in my PERSONAL OPINION, Feminism has contributed to the feelings of failure of many women who chose home and family over career with or without family. As Remington Steele (an 80's TV show) succictly put it: "The quandary of the independant woman: what am I missing and who am I missing it with?" Those who chose career over family feel a failure because they don't have families, those who chose family over career feel a failure because they don't know what kind of a success they would have been at a career. Those who tried to do both are mostly burnt out from too much stress.

Feminism has also added to the sexual confusion of both men and women. I don't mean homosexuality, I mean the fact that people think that sex has no emotional effects, and they can go have sex with any one without any repercussions, which has its own plethora of negative emotional effects.

I'm a feminist by definition, but i'm a misogynist by popular definition.

See, most of the feminists i see these days don't revolve around the theme of "Equal rights, equal liberties of man and woman" but more around "Ladies first."

I support Feminism as "Equal rights". I don't when it's "Women are better." If the second definition keeps up, i'll start Masculinism.

The "evil" side of feminism, I suppose, are the radical feminists who become man-haters and give the rest of us feminists a bad name.

It makes me sad when people automatically think feminism = man-hating.

Feminists still haven't really come to terms with motherhood. What they preach would make sense if the male and female bodies could do the same things.

Short of the scum manifesto, I don't think we have many dangerous feminists these days. If we're sill working away at getting an equal wage, how can any feminist really pose much of a threat at this point?
