Is their music respected? I'm especially interested in the opinion of the British public.

apart from the silly hats they are a very talented band
I'm not personally a fan of theirs but they are more talented than they probably get credit for
having seen them on television recently doing a live gig i was surprised how much energy they generated
not really my cup of tea but there is a lot of respect for them by a lot of people
so i guess my answer really is yes
they do have credibility
and they definitely have their own style

Jamiroquai is MOR anodyne crud. He would love to be mentioned in the same breath as Stevie Wonder but never will be. It is pop/soul/funk by numbers, what jazzers call noodling, musically burbling away, going nowhere, doing nothing and saying even less.
AWFUL!

jk and jamiroquai as a band are very talented and at least he writes his own music unlike most of the bands or solo singers in the top 40 these days cover versions are very yesterday and boring.

It annoys people that he wrote "Virtual Insanity" - a song/rant about how awful and scary technology is, when he owns at least 10 ferraris.

The hats and his general tw**ishness irritate everyone too.
