There is no scientific proof that taking supplemental collagen will aid in degenerative disease. However, there is anecdotal evidence that it may aid somewhat. As a matter a fact, my father takes it, and has decreased his pain walking up and down stairs. So, if you have significant pain, other therapies may be better; if you just have mild irritation or pain, it may be worth trying for several months to see if it gives you any benefit.
