I heard on a T.V program that dominent men who always need to have power over a woman can be influenced due to having a dominent mother....any truth in that?

I'd say yes.

yes it would appear so. A dominant mother will make the man feel powerless over woman. The first two years of a baby's life are very important. This feeling of being powerless from such a young age will often roll over and be triggered at some later point, like when in a long term relationship
This is dangerous because you could find yourself with a lovve hate relationship, and that isn't fun

*Seperate issue. Why do people answer questions if they arn't going to answer the question?? this is a place to share wisdom. Son't ruin it by being redundant

Absolutely - but there are all sorts of reasons people behave the way they do. I would say the number one factor that determines behavior in adulthood would be how you are raised. Dominant men could have also grown up in a household with a dominant father. Environment is a big factor in how a child will grow up. However, you cannot generalize it because different personalities deal with environmental factors in different ways.

A man may grow up in a house where his mother was always beaten - he can grow up to be abusive himself or he can grow up to be the best husband a woman could ask for, because he saw how much his mother hurt. All depends on the person and how they, personally, deal with these factors.

Yes, a trait learned from either parent can be transferred over into their lives and relationships. So reared under a controlling mother can lead a male to be domineering over his girlfriend or wive, but it also depends on the personality of the male too otherwise you end up with a moomas boy who would rather be controlled by his wife than vice versa. Happy New Year

I heard it the other way around. Theres this statistic that 75% (or something like it) of gay men had a mother who was a more dominant personality than their father. They mimic the stronger more dominant personality in the house or something. Im sure that this statement may be perceived to be politically incorrect. Its a stat from my sociology text, its not meant to insult or give any offense. Im just telling what I heard.

Usually men with dominant mothers will look for dominant women to have relationships with. I'm not sure I'm understanding your comment regarding "can be influenced due to having a dominant mother."

Nope........men who feel the need to dominate are basically insecure loosers who get their sense of power by making someone else feel bad. They take no responsibility for their own lives. They can get that trait from either a Mother OR a Father OR someone else entirely!

That can be true, but it can also be true that men who had dominate mothers look for dominate women as well.

There's no one answer. That is a possible cause for some. One other explanation might be that their primary male role model was dominent, and they are following that example.

i thought it was if the man had a controlling father or mother then they would likely be controlling to. but sometimes it isn't passed on cuz my grandfather's dad was abusive, but my grandfather is the farthest thing from abusive and he never swears in front of ladies or children so i gues it all depends!

men r always controlling though!!! its just how they r!!!

yes because they have been dominated there whole life. What else are they going to do when they are on their own? They do what they know.......dominate.
