How old are you? Do you have any experience? What kind of acting do you want to do (serious, comedy, musical theatre, filsm, television, Broadway, regional theatre, touring companies) Do you have any musical talent - dance training, voice (singing) training?

In order to give you a reasonable answer to your question (I've been in professional theatre for over thirty years and spent some time in educational theatre at the university level) you need to provide more information. Some people are happy to be spear carriers - small roles - on Broadway, others have no interest in Broadway but want to work in smaller local theatres where they can do larger roles. Some people only want television - some films. Different dreams - different talents - different desires - each has a different path to follow.

There are brilliant directors who are spending their lives in university programs, because they get to direct more, they have more freedom, they get to work with willing students without the restrictions of unions - that's another choice too.

Good luck with whatever path you take - but next time, be more specific.

And Happpy New Year!!

You should try out for local productions and go from there. You'll learn more from just doing a show than sitting in some classroom. There might be auditions in the paper where you live. Local theatres also have websites with a list of audtions.

Where in the US do you live? Are there community theatres in your vicinity. You may also want to check local colleges and universities to see if you can study at a class there as a non-matriculated student.

Call the community theatre in your city and ask them to recommend an acting school.
