No. They would be taking away jobs that the children in the third world countries need to survive.

Don't know about the sweatshop thing, but I would be all for a compulsory year abroad for all students who are in the 10th or 11th grades- and I think they should also be forced to master a foreign language during that stint abroad- other English speaking countries except for those in the third world should be ruled out.

In different worldwide places, this would mean the version between that youngster's kinfolk ingesting that day, or not. As undesirable because it sounds, the undeniable fact that a 12 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous works in a sweatshop may well be an progression of their lives. right here in usa, we've taxpayer funded government secure practices nets so this could not be mandatory. to determining to purchase is vote casting, you will desire to have mentioned "Lose-lose situation. thank you government!"

I don't think the children should physically work in the sweatshops.
I do believe that students should volunteer their time and anything they no longer need (clothes, canned food, etc.) for those countries less fortunate than the US.
They should also get a job to learn responsibility :)

Listen to me you moronic imbecilic dumb bumble head of a blond!
The people who works at those "sweatshops," you so passionately named, makes more money than work anything else at their respective country. It might seem little because you think of it in dollars, but with the foreign exchange rate, they make more money. Its like having the education of a barternder, and making the same amount of money as an engineer-Its all relative. The benefit? You get to buy what you want at Walmart, yeah dont deny it, i bet you shop there all the time!
Before you open that piehole on your head, make sure you take college courses, like Macroeconomics and Mircoeconomics, it will do a lot of good to fill that hollow head of yours..

as far as sweatshops, not really. if ur definition as sweatshop is like walmart, or the grocery store, than, yes, i think kids (older, like 12 and older) should learn what its like to work. Theres too many spoiled kids in the states... Its embarassing... I also think volunteering should be required in schools, for extra credit, or a grade... Our school doesnt require that, but they should. I know about 5 teens in the school that volunteers regularly... if that. im for sure of 3, me, and 2 other girls...

i understand what you are trying to say and the point you are trying to drive into todays youth... but there will be no reason for it, some enough the only jobs we will have in america will be no different from the sweatshops abroad.

It wouldnt work, first the money the people of that country is making there is probably equivelant to what wages are here, second it takes a lot more than a week to assimilate into another society and their hardships, third,we shouldnt feel shame for our society here

I doubt that scenario has any chance of getting off the ground.
There's enough publicity for them to be aware of what goes on.
I spent a year in Pakistan. Believe it or not....even the sweat shop workers look for deals when buying goods.
They don't care who made the product...just what price they're paying.

No.
Is there a point to this question?
Just asking.
Thanks for adding details.. I see your point, but still say no. I think sweatshops should be outlawed everywhere. I think there are ways to help our children understand the suffering in the world without making them suffer in a like manner. Should we send them to Ethiopia to starve in order to better understand starvation?
