If you are going to wear a red tie, stick with black pants and a black shirt...to keep it simple and to get the red tie to "pop".

How about white? Fashion today is not about matching the same colours together - that's so yesterday. It's all about clashing colours tastefully. Black, white and red makes a good combination.
