I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 which has a SD card slot on the side. I need to know how to activate the slot so i can use a SD card. Any help would be appreciated.

the slot should alread show up as a drive in my computer (windows XP and above) if not then you may need to install the drivers for the card slot from the original driver disc, or download from dell.
as for the card itself your computer should be able to read from the card the moment you stick the card in the slot. the problems can arise if the cards has the right protect enabled waking the card read only.
simply remove the card from the slot and flick the switch on the card to make the card readable and writable.
put the card back in and job done. your card can have the data downloaded to your computer to do with what you want.

alternatively the system control panel may have the card slots deactivated so reactivate them. control panel is where to start.

Nothing. It should just work. If it's broken you can get a USB multi reader for about $15 that will handle all types of cards

It should be an automatic activation... just like when u plug ina digital camera... if it doesnt activate immediately... look for a program relating to it... otherwise its broken

card readers are connected to the usb, so there plug and play

If you have Windows XP, it should automatically show up. if it does not, try replacing it until it recognizes it.
