Dude, this was an awesome freaking question, and I had to throw my 2 cents in!
This mess about the brain dictating which "half" of him would regenerate is horse$#!T. Wolverine has been all but completely incinerated, minus a few cells clinging to his adamantium skeleton (which, in fact, actually inhibits the power of the healing factor) and has still successfully been able to regenerate and regrow all the complex organs and tissue lost. When the alien Horde ripped out Wolverine's heart (which was awesome) a drop of Logan's blood landed on this power crystal and from that single grouping of cells, combined with the energy of the crystal, Wolvie was able to basically regrow himself completely. So actually, the theory that someone put out about growing 2 actually COULD happen, provided there was enough energy to support the process, as apparently every cell in the guy's body is capable of autonomous regeneration.
Now, considering you tore Wolvie in half - basically, you'd be ripping all the flesh from his bones, as the skeleton won't break. So, you've got these two sacks of mutant flesh. Obviously, the one thats gonna grow back will be the one with the largest percentage of his CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM. NOT just his brain. Because lets face it, if you ripped Wolvie's brain out (or vacuumed it out through his nose), he wouldn't regenerate around his disembodied brain, but rather a new gray snotball would form inside his skull. And If you ripped him in half sideways, I think neither "side" would regenerate, but rather the few cells left clinging to his skeleton and spine would begin the regrowth.
Thats all the time I can spend on this question, but I hope you're as entertained reading this as I was writing it!
Peace

I actually put this Question to the test a few months ago, I took wolverine and tore him in half, I can't speak of any regeneration, but there was a lot of reimbursement, they may not be real but comic books are expensive, and my dad neighbor can't take a joke.
I think wolverine is still in two pieces.

I think Wolverine's regeneration require most or at least vital parts of Wolverine's body to still functioning.

i think because of the "unbreakable" metal in him, it would theoretically be impossible to do such a thing.
However the Hulk is a pretty strong dude, so take this, and know that no matter how close to half you get, it's still not exactly half, so my vote would be with the half with the most molecules.
sorry i don't know any clingon, or i'd engage you in a more enlightened conversation.

He cant be torn in half, Because of the adamantium. Only his flesh could be torn from the bone I guess, but only what is attached to his brain's half of the body would regenerate. I assume.

Well, being as he is a man and a mans brains are in the southern area, that would be the one that would regenerate.
The other half would enter into a vegetative state and become compost.

1. he can't be torn in half. not even by the hulk. his bones are laced with pure adamantium.
2. if he was torn in half, it would be the part with his head (as in skull!) that would regenerate... because it makes more sense this way and not because it's ever happened.

Both would regenerate -- there'd be two of him. This hasn't come up (to my knowledge) just b/c he has an adamantine skeleton and there's not much that can rip THAT in half.
