It didn't come with much "useful" software beyond Windows, MS Works and some HP multimedia. There was, of course, a slew of "demo" programs that they try to sell to you, but she deleted all of these as soon as she finished making the recovery disks.
Sorry, I don't know how much disk space was left.

I think you mean how much harddrive space is taken.
The OS uses about 10GB's leaving you with about 70GB's of storage.
