yes you can request and schedule one, its kind of cool because you will know the exact day your going into the hospital! But if your doing this because your scared from your 1st experience you should know that your first labor and delivery is the worst...most of the time the second time is a breeze compared to the first! c-sections take way longer to recover from; you don't lose weight easily after; and you will be in after-pain for some time, it cuts into the time you should be spending with your newborn.
but good luck no matter your choice

Most doctors should work with you on this. After all, you're paying them. Definately talk to your doctor first. I had complications with my second delivery and wound up having an emergency c-section. My third son I didn't have a choice on because I had already had a c-section. I would much rather go through a vaginal delivery than a c-section. Much less worries, much less pain. Now we're expecting again and as much as I want a natural delivery, no matter how hard I push for it the doctor won't allow it. Don't forget that there will be newborn duties that need to be done and it's a lot harder to get out of bed the day after delivering via c-section than vaginal. You'll have to rely on a lot of people to help you.

Some doctors will only do a C-section if it's necessary. I have heard the it's not good to have one if you don't need one because it's surgery. Sometimes young women want c-sections because there afraid of vaginal birth but in my experience ( having both ) I would not recommend a c-section unless you really need one. Look at the pros and cons of a c-section before you decide thats what you want. I would discourage a c-section because for about 8 weeks after one you're stomach muscles are in dire pain, and at least for me I had a hard time even lifting my baby. Go vaginal with an epidural if possible your birthing experience will be much more joyful if you can see whats going on with out the big cloth. Good luck what ever you choose.

Most doctors now will honor your request for a c-section, but I dont understand why you would want one when you can have a vaginal delivery. The healing time for a csection is much longer than a vag. delivery. They have to cut through your muscles and you will be left with a large scar from your sutures. You wont be able to lift your baby, someone will have to pass him or her to you, and even laughing could be very painful. If you are planning on nursing then you have to perfect the "football hold" to nurse your baby so as not to injure your sutures, and trying to get a newborn baby to nurse only a certain way is hard work.
By all means if there will be danger to you or your baby i would be all for a c-section, but I just hope that you look at all the reasoning behind it, and the pros and cons before you decide. Good luck!!

There has to be a medical reason to get one. Maybe you can pray for a breech baby. You are right every delivery is different. Usually the first is the worse. On top of that you heal so much easier with a vaginal delivery than a c-section. Really. c-sections are not all that they are cracked up to be.

You can have a planned cesarean section. Actually, this is becoming quite popular. You will of course need anesthesia, an epidural, to be precise, which is a shot in the spine. My mom had a c-section with me, only because she had to, but she said the epidural was a little painful, and the anesthesiologist actually moved some of her spinal fluid into her brain, but that was just a bad doctor. Talk to your doctor about exactly why you would rather have a c-section and he/she will give you some advice. Just look into it a bunch before you do. Good luck!

most of the time it is mom's choice. But know what you are asking for. Recovery time is longer, you'll have a large incision, and with that pain and increased risk of infection. Are you planning to have more kids? It is possible to V-Bac (vaginal birth after c section) But the chance of uterine rupture is alot higher, and if rupture happens outside of the hospital it isn't good. Talk with your doctor, ask lots of questions, call your Labor and delivery and speak with a delivery nurse, they will answer the phone 24-7, and should be glad to talk with you.

Honestly, the majority of c sections are done if neccessary, simply meaning you cant ask your doctor to perform a c section it is their job to determine whats best for you and the baby's well being, I understand the fact that you may have had a rough 1st pregnancy but they wont do it unless they have to. I had my son 5 mths ago by emergency c section I didnt want to have him that way but he was positioned posterior so they had no choice. Just relax and let the doctors decide when that day comes, BY THE WAY GOOD LUCK .........

Every doctor is different on that one and so are hospital policies.I had to have a c-section with my first-not planned-he got stuck in my birth canal-ouch!I am now 32 weeks along with my 2nd and have a planned c-section in February because I do not want the same thing to happen again.
Talk to your OB and tell him how worried you are-I am sure he will consider one-but like I said-every doctor is different.

You should discuss your anxiety and fears with your doctor. I had a c section with my first child. Recovery was so quick for me that I chose to have c section with my second. Every body is different and recovery is different for all. You can listen to us all but that doesn't mean our story will be yours. If you have had other surgeries-nose, breast etc., how did your body respond and heal? That is a better indication of how your body will respond to a c section.
