Do you believe thats true? I do, I see it in movies a lot. People (like Adam Sandler) who are really shallow tend to make an extrememly serious and sentimental movie at some point in their lives.

My two questions: do you believe thats true and if so, give me an example.

DisgruntledPOV: There's a difference between shallow and funny. I'm talking shallow like the part in the movie Click where Adam Sandler farted in the guys face when he froze time. THAT'S shallow and to compensate for that. Oh look, the movie has an extremely serious/ sentimental part. Real comedians don't have the urge to make such serious movies or do something serious and sentimental so much. Example: I make amv's (anime music videos) and I make funny ones I think, not shallow ones. because of that, I don't feel the need to remind the world that I'm also serious when I want to be. I have made serious videos because you can't primarily live on one thing or the other. People that do really shallow things tend to make up for that by suddenly being really serious/ sentimental at some point.

i don't agree with this at all. what about all the people who are just serious? it's just their personality? so their shallow if they aren't happy-go-lucky all the time? in my experience the non-serious people are the ones who wear on your nerves and annoy you with their constant need to fill the silence with needless and pointless chatter. of course being overly serious is a drag but it doesn't mean they're shallow. i think you need to revise your question and replace that word because is makes the whole question a non sequiter

I live in Washington, DC. There are a lot of people who go to parties to try to look well informed on subject they haven't a clue about. You interject a bit a sarcasm into the conversation, they are lost.

Sure, but it's also a refuge for the deep.

Silliness is a two way street too.
