This is a totally silly question which I am asking simply out of curiosity; what order do you put the traditional acronym in, ie. LBGT, GLBT, and so on? And - if there is a reason - why? When I get some answers, I will tell you the order I use and why.

I use LBGT because I volunteered for years at a place that used the acronym in that order. Thanks for all the answers!!

I just googled several different combinations, and here are the results I received:

Term........Number of Hits
====........===========
GBLT...............11,800
BLGT...............12,000
GTLB...............21,300
LGBT..............479,000
BTLG................29,600
LTGB................12,100
TLGB................30,200

Not a scientific test, but LGBT seems so much more accepted and used than any of the other combinations that I have tried - but I did not try them all.

So, I use LGBT because that is the common, accepted, usage.

Silly question, but fun to answer ! Thanks

PS - After you said what you used, LGBT, I googled that and there were 197,000 responses - so that may be the second highest - but I haven't done all the possibilities.

It doesn't really matter to me, but I have a friend that's trans and lesbian and she prefers TBGL. The reason that she uses is that she puts it in order of the acceptance that she's had from each community, starting with the most accepting and ending with the groups that have been unaccepting of her. Kinda sad how being trans has left her rejected by many people of her same orientation.

LGBT, it roles off the tongue better. I think it's because of the vowel sound at the beginning.
