Thanks Mike...I have only not picked a best answer twice...once because all the answers were so good I really could not pick just one and put it to a vote and the second one because it had to do with favorite low rated TV series and I did not know enough about all of them to choose myself so I put that one to a vote...otherwise I like to do it myself too.

I always send a thank you for a "best answer", why many don't is beyond me. Yahoo even sends an email telling you to extend the time. If that person does not allow email or have a 360, I put a thank you in the "add comments" box.
Happy New Year !

I pick a best answer for my own questions most of the time, the rare times I send to voting is a result of having two or more answers that I can't decide between

I have only answered 27 questions since I joined, but out of those 27, none of them have chose a best answer. I was wondering the same thing.

When I first signed up, i didn't pick a best answer, because I was new to the site and I didn't quite understand how it worked, after understanding how everything worked, I started picking the best answer.

Because they receive so many good answers to their question, makes it difficult to choose the best one. So in order to be fair, it is brought to a vote.

because they dont want other people to feel bad? cant decide which really is the best answer? none of the answers helped? people had diffrent answers that only confused the questioner more? didnt have the time?

Maby they feel in their opinion noone merits a best answer. I have come across that and answers I think were better than mine and I disagree with the asker.

maybe they don't realize that they(& you) get points for picking a best answer, so they don't care, or maybe it's because so many people put the same answers as other people who have already answered
