I have one on the back of my neck ( that I can hide with my hair down ), and one on the small of my back. I think those are pretty good places because I can hide them if need be. The one on the back of my neck hardly hurt, but the lower back one hurt like hell.
Don't be surprised when you pick the art work and it ends up looking much bigger on your body than it does on that piece of paper or board. So keep that in mind when you choose one.
Good luck!!

Honestly, you have to go with what YOU are comfortable with. There are people who are going to tell you that it will look tacky no matter where you put it, the moment you get it done. There are people who think that tattoos are always "tacky". You have to ask yourself, if you really want this, where you want it.
And just for the record here, lower back tattoos will NOT interfere with an epidural for labor. It won't paralyze you, it won't keep the epidural from working, it won't cause an infection in your spine or any of the other things that people say. It was flawed research from the beginning and an ugly urban legend that just won't die.

Depending on the Tat, I would say there a few great spots on a woman.
Small of the Back (just above the butt) - good for Med. to Large Tats like tribals.
Ankle - Good for Smaller Tats like flowers or hearts.
Breast - good for Small to Med. Tattoos ( breast size should be considered when choosing Tat)

do not get it on your lower back if you are planning on having a baby, because there is an injection to help the pain that you get there in labor, and if you have a tattoo there you would be unable to get it. and one on your stomach is the most painful and is mainly for men, so I should say get one on your upper shoulder. I got a heart there and i love it, and it even looks good when its peeking out of my shirt. If you have really long hair then get one a little bit lower on your shoulder, but not so low that it will be covered by bikini/bra strings or whatever.
good luck =)

whatever you do, don't put it on your hip bone, because it can stretch and warp if you get pregnant.
think of the places on your body you won't gain a significant amount of weight as you get older, such as your shoulderblade or ankle. keep in mind some of these spots are very visible, and you might regret it if you have a bright green tattoo and want to wear strappy red shoes.
i have one behind my ear, and it's perfect, because people only see it if i feel like putting my hair up.

Most women get them on the lower back, the top of the foot, the ankle, the belly button (don't do if you ever want to have babies), and the lower shoulder. Good luck!

Generally a tatoo on your ankle or the small of your back "ages" well. If you're not flat chested, midway between your collar bone and nipple is kind of an interesting surprise too.

oh don't do it, i regret it and i only have one and the plastic surgeon doesn't want to remove it because it will scar. i don't know one person who 6 or 7 years later is still happy they have it. but if you MUST do it then i'd have to say sort of around your hip area in the front, nothing like a tramp stamp and nothing where if you are wearing shorts or a backless dress you'd want be to think you were low class. but something in your hip area that's small should be good.
