Kissimmee is not all bad orlando has had alot of crime this yr. some pray on tourists. Animal kindom is actually located in kissimmee. Disney has 5 parks if u get the gate hopper u can go to any or all on their buses. There are so many motels it's crazy. There r some nice ones in kissimmee like the 5-star resort has several lg pools and snack bars.

Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830. Disney has it's own zip code 47 sq miles to be exact. Orlando is the city next door. Downtown Orlando has better clubs than Downtown Disney, Club Paris, Blue Room, Makos. As far as a good hotel, any Disney hotel is a great guarantee to be good.

Lake Buena Vista is the closest town to Disney World, followed closely by Kissimmee.

I recommend the Sheraton Safari Resort in Lake Buena Vista and the Best Western Lakeside Resort in Kissimmee. Both are very nice and have great rates - sometimes as low as $49 a night!

I agree with Lisa in Florida.
I stayed in Kissimee and it was pretty gross.
There also was no transportation to Disney whatsoever.
Even if you stay off Disney property, if you stay in Lake Buena Vista most hotels have Disney transporation, even if its not 'official'.
I've stayed at the Best Western Lake Buena Vista 3 times and I've been satisfied. Its a fairly reasonable price, nice place, and transportation to Disney parks.
heres the website
http://www.orlandoresorthotel.com/
also, the best part about this hotel was that we could walk to Downtown Disney and be there in like 5 minutes. It was great.
But, if there is any possibily that you can stay on Disney property, you really should. There are resorts to fit every budget. There are the value resorts, where you can get a room for around $80 a night, the moderate resorts who are about $120ish a night, and deluxe resorts for about $280 a night I believe.
I can personally tell you that I did not like any of the All-Star value resorts, but I loved the Pop Century value resort. Its newer and the theming is amazing. Also, it doesn't share buses with any other resort, yay! All 3 of the All Star resorts shared the same bus line so the buses were majorly crowded. A major advantage of staying on Disney property is the Extra Magic hours at the parks. Everyday, a select park opens either an hour before opening time or styas open up to 3 hours after closing time just for people who are staying on Disney property. Its great.
For moderate resorts, I can personally reccomend Caribbean Beach. I thought it was excellent and beautiful.
The themeing and the rooms were awesome.
If I remember correctly, I stayed in Martinique and it was pretty close to Old Port Royal, which is the main building that has all of the counter service restaurants and the table service restaurant: Shutter's.
Unfortunately, I never got to eat at Shutter's, but I loved all of the little places to get food in Old Port Royal.
Like I say, I was pretty close to it and every morning I would enjoy the short stroll to it.
Some mornings we would even spot bunnies on our way.
I love the whole 'beach' with the playground on it and numerous hammocks. I loved just relaxing on the hammocks for awhile.
I also thought the water craft rental place was cool.
It was so awesome how each 'village' had their own pool and then there was the main pool by Old Port Royal, which was so cool.
I also thought Old Port Royal overall was excellent, I loved the open feel. Like, when you walk in its like an open mrket type thing with like disney pins available to buy in the center of the room, but then if you veer off to one side (I can't say left or right because it depends on which way you enter Port Royal) there is the gift shop, and it was really nice. It had everything you would need. All of the classic souvenirs found in the parks and they had medicine and stuff too.

Wherever you stay, I hope you have a magical time!

The closest town is Kissimmee, FL. There are plenty of hotels, motels and Inns with different types of room and different prices. The best thing you can do to get the room you want at the rate you want is to do an online search with the specific details you want on your motel. You can search sites like, Yahoo Travel, Expedia, Idine.com and others. Have fun

I too have stayed at the Best Western Lake Buena Vista...pretty nice , 3 pools, put put, kids area and 3 restaraunts on site and an exercise room. I was just there first part of Dec. and it was $48 a night, but that gig jump to $98 a night the day we left (Dec. 8) Also, there is a Walgreens RIGHT THERE, which is fabulous for last minute forgotten items. There is a free shuttle bus that takes you to the parks and its only maybe a 7,8 min drive.
