Historically, the first reference to an individual's name is Biblical: Adam and Eve, who had sons referred to as Cain and Abel. Genesis, the first book of the Bible, goes into great detail on the geneology of those forthcoming.

When language evolve i would assume names came to identify another person.
As far as Adam and Eve, I very much doubt that. There are so many contradiction in a bible. No mention of dinosaur, and ark big to carry every animal. Wood cannot hold to something that extreme.

At the beginning, everyone had the name Yu. They would walk around ahd say, Hey Yu and everyone was confused. So they gave the men the name dude and the women got the name ho. But that didn;t work so well either.
