The word synchronize is usually meant to transfer songs to a mp3 player. Only Windows Media Player 10 or 11 (forget...) supports that. Media Player 10+ (or is it 11+, forget...) is ONLY available on WinXP. If you have Win2000 or something else, then it won't do it.

But the Media Player synchronize deal is way overated. Its much simpler to just copy files directly. When you plug a mp3 player (not sure about Ipods, but the generic mp3 players) into a USB cable to your computer, it will say found new hardware, etc. After finishing all of that, simply go to My Computer. You will now notice you have a "brand new drive" listed in there, that was never there before. On the mp3 player I have, theres another subfolder in it called Media, I have to copy the mp3's to that particular folder for the player to see it, experiment with yours.

So now just find the mp3's on your computer and drag and drop them to that new drive.

Do you mean burn (put music on a CD) or rip (save music on the CD as files)? To rip you just need a CD-ROM drive. To burn you need a CD burner (a new CD drive). They're pretty cheep so if you don't have one, you can easily get one or even a DVD burner.
