If you're talking about whether they have the same number of electrons, that's something you can find on the periodic table. If I'm not mistaken, Sodium and Magnesium have a fairly small difference, and we're talking about a positive ion of Sodium. It's a possibility, but I don't remember what their beginning numbers are.
