House is in Oceanside, no basement. I looked in the coat closet and walk-in closet. I didn't notice it in the garage but some of the shelves have stuff on them.

I found it right next to the power meter. Thanks! Being from the midwest, I never would have guessed it was outside the house. Can't someone come to the house and shut off the power which would disable the alarm system???

There is a place for a lock on it so I guess I'll lock the box outside. Thanks again for all the quick answers.

I live in LA, and I can tell you this: walk aound your house's perimeter and look for the power meter 90% of homes in CA have their circuit breaker panel right below the power meter.

Look outside the house for the overhead service wires. They should be connected to the house up high and then come down the side to a meter. From the meter it goes inside to the panel. Most electricians install the panel just on the other side of the meter. In fact the code for the most part says it can't be more than 10 feet from the meter once it enters the house

Most breaker panels are on the same end as the meter, usually in the master bedroom,or a laundry, if you have an attic go up there and see where the big bundle of wires goes down into the wall, if you have a crawl space see where they go up. But without being there the only thing I can tell you for certain is that it is located somewhere in Oceanside, California.

It will be below the meter on the outside of the house or in the garage on a wall that the meter is on.

Look on the outside of your house where the electricity is coming in. Most contractors have the breaker box very close to that.

This seems like a stupid question; but you'd be surprised how many people don't know. Mrs. Samfrio found out she didn't know when her electric oven shorted out and caught fire.
