Actually this is a quite common feeling towards the very end of pregnancy. the lightheadedness is from your blood circulating elsewhere in your body. feeling out of breath is from there being no room for lungs to expand fully. the end of pregnancy is near and soon you will be holding your little bundle of joy. Lots of luck!!!!

I just recently gave birth the first week of November. I can definately relate to what you're feeling. Your baby is big now and is taking up all the room in there and pushing on your diaphram. It doesn't help that the baby is probably right up underneath your rib cage pushing your ribs out. When the baby pushes on your diaphram, you become dizzy and short of breath. This is normal. I had the same issue and spoke with my doctor about it. These are the things she told me. Just make sure you're staying plenty hydrated and if you feel lightheaded, sit down for a few minutes. Take it easy. Believe me, when you give birth, you will feel the biggest relief come across your body. You will be able to breath much easier and feel ten times lighter. Good luck and congratulations!

Some women produce too much relaxin, the hormone that allows your pelvis to spread. This hormone also causes all your other joints to relax, the valves to and from your stomach to relax and your blood vessels to relax.
It is good that it causes your blood vessels to relax as you have about 50% more blood when you are pregnant. However for some women it causes their blood to pool particularly if they sit or lay down for a long time, or take a hot shower. This can cause you to feel lightheaded for a few minutes or even faint. However, unless your blood pressure is chronically too low it is not a problem for you or the baby it is just an annoyance. Be extra careful when you get up from sitting or laying down and in the shower/tub.

I had that trouble...my pulse kept racing. Stay off your feet, make sure you are eating small, frequent meals (a low blood sugar will make you feel faint). Try resting on your left side as much as possible, and take slow deep breaths. The baby can actually push up on your diaphragm and make you short of breath.
And if you don't feel fine, call your OB and say so. Mother's intuition is not something good doctors and nurses ignore.

Are you still feeling the baby move? Are you bleeding? I'd say that you are probably feeling the wonderful pains of being 37 weeks pregnant. The baby could be kicking toward your lungs. If you are still having issues and you feel like something is really wrong go back or call your own doctor Tues. morning.

This is perfectly normal. Late in pregnancy the baby is preparing for delivery inside the womb and pushes up against the sternum and sometimes it feels as if you can't breathe. Just get some rest if you can, and alternate to a comfortable positon.

I felt the same way with my last pregnancy (7 weeks ago) it's normal....the baby is pushing on your lungs making you short of breath, and the heaviness is probably indigestion. Take some Zantac. and take it easy...you only have 3 weeks to go!
Congratulations!!!
