I am 16 years old and I haven't had my period since I was 14. I first got my cycle when I turned 13, but ever since I gained weight (like 50 pounds) and had all these stresses about school & family troubles, I haven't been on track. I also had a stunt of growth in my breasts since then and I have been growing a small mustache (not very noticeable, but I can see little brown hairs above my lip). What can I take that will put my hormone levels back to normal? I don't want to go to the doctor and be put on birth control pills, because I am not sexually active and won't be until I get married. I just need something over the counter to put me back to normal!

sounds like you've got more going on than just stress keeping your period back, you really should see a doctor to rule out poly cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), or any other problem that may cause your symptoms

if it is PCOS, then birth control pills will help with the hormones and it's not about taken them to prevent pregnancies, but to help regulate your cycle and decrease the extra hair growth

you can try a naturopath, homeopath, and/or acupuncturist if you really aren't into taking medicines, but really, you should get this looked into because it may be signs of a more serious problem...

Well, first you need to go to the doctor. Sounds like you have PCOS. If so, the doctor will probably put you on birth-control pills for period regulation. I have already been through this, it happened to me when I was 14yrs old also. I had surgery and was put on BC pills. I'm still not regular so my mom did a little research and I started taking some herbs(Don Quai & Licorice Root DGL) also a progesterone cream. I suggest that you stick with your doctor. The bc pills have lots of side affects but each person experiences something different. Please go to the doctor ASAP I wish I would have because I am paying for it now.

Just stress alone wouldnt be able to dely your period for two years.

It sounds like something is wrong. Go to the doctor.

Even if you're not sexually actuave, birth control pills could actually help you outwith your hormone levels...thats what its supposed to do. Just because you're on the pill doesnt mean you have to be sexually active.

Go to the doctor. Something isnt right.
