Fractions and division are just different words for the same idea, as a fraction is a smaller number over a large number.

1,400,000 over 6,000,000 is just the same as 14 over 60 (with some extra zeroes). What is 60 divided by 14? Hmm, a little over 4. 4 times 14 is 56, so there's a remainder of 4 (60-56). Division is basically just dividing a larger number into groups of a given smaller number.

2,500,000 is the same way. I'll let you work that on your own.

Hope that helps.

First, it's easy to cut off a few zeros. Be sure there are equal digit places: 2,500,000/6,000,000

2,5|00,000
- - - - - - - -
6,0|00,000

now you have 25/60

You'll need to start reducing as well. You know that each of those can be divided by 5:

(25/5)/(60/5) = 5/12

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

For 1,400,000/6,000,000 do the same thing:

1,4|00,000
- - - - - - - -
6,0|00,000

now you have 14/60. Reduce the number by eliminating common denominators:

(14/2)/(60/2) = 7/30

Simply use 6,000,000 as the denominator in your fraction and put the other figures over it.
1,400,000/6,000,000 and 2,500,000/6,000,000

You can then cancel out the zeros for:
14/60 and 25/60
And simplify:
14/60=7/30 and 25/60=5/12

It's not so bad, eh?

1,400,000/6,000,000

reduce to 14/60 by eliminating the zeros

14/60 = 7/12

2,500,000/6,000,000

reduce as above to 25/60 = 5/12

Divide them.

2,500,000
-------------
6,000,000

Then start canceling out tens.

25
---
60

Then cancel out fives.

5
---
12

And there you go.

To cancel, you divide both the top and bottom half by the same number.

And for the other one, you may have to cancel with different numbers like 3, 5, 7, or 11. I don't know because I'm not doing that one.
