Probably would although the phrase "til death do us part" would have a whole new meaning or should say would occur a whole lot more. People have a very funny way of finding a way out of something especially when none exists, legal or illegal. It probably would cut down dramatically the spousal support paid though. The prison gay population would increase however. So would it really be worth while to make divorce illegal? Probably not. Have a fantastic new year!

Their would a 99 % less marriages in America, because you never really don't know a person until you live with them. Do you think that if they told you at the marrige license dept.that this can never be voided no matter what they do to you. It will be a penitetary offense and you will go to prison for life if you ever try to divorce this person or you may get the death penalty. Honey they'd break that door down getting out of that department. There would be a lot less question, "Why don't he want to marry me, he says he loves me"..

Most definitely, but then I don't believe in divorce except in severe situations (abuse, severe neglect, massive infidelity). I took my vows seriously, thought my decision to marry through from all angles before I got married, and went into it with my eyes wide open to what I might have to deal with. So, yes, I would still marry. I have a feeling many other people would too, but since you didn't say there would be any penalty for infidelity, I think the rate of infidelity would just go up...and up... and up...

Ummm, isn't that the point? Divorce should be there for people who are abused, who have tried to make it work and couldn't, really hard situations, etc... It's not there for one spouse to say: oops, I found someone better, see ya! That's the problem. In my opinion, when you get married, you are there til death, no matter what. That's why you say "for better and for worse".

Your funny. People do know they will be with that person till death. Thats why they got married, to be together forever. What they don't know is that they will sometimes think they are going die if they stay.married........ marriage is a bad bargain at its best. But worth it always....no matter what becomes of the union.

that i have to say is a very interesting ques. as for me i think that if people waited to get married until they really knew the person they were marrying there would be very little divorce. as for me when i took those vows i ment them and i dont ever plan to be divorced and if that did happen i would probably never marry again. so no i dont think that it would stop marrieage i do however think that people would really know the person they are marrying before they married. i have got to tell you one more time excellent question.

I doubt it. I consider marriage to be forever, that's why I haven't married yet because no one has been good enough to spend the rest of my life with. There's just way too many losers out there and they all have their tricks on hiding it until it's too late.
Plus, men get BORED and NEED DIFFERENT, so guarenteed they're going to cheat, and damned if I'll put up with that.
Nope, I would not do it.

I'm sure when anyone marries, they THINK it will be for life. However, people today have a low tolerance of tolerance......
+ there are mates who kill their mates, thus live up to their vows
now dont they. I hope that I would NOT marry again, whether divorce was legal or not.
Yes, I believe marriage would continue to occur.....Perhaps living together would increase.
