Just to be polite? Or would you decline his generous offer and go about your merry way?

I'd say "thank you Gordon Brown" and slap the doughnut away, grab him by his arm, and haul him to the car whereupon I'd throw him in the boot, slam the door, and drive him to my best friend's house where she could calm him down properly, as I'm sure he'd be in quite the state after being locked in the boot that long.
I'd leave the doughnut behind for the birds.

A female planning permission officer went to inspect a building a few weeks ago. The elderley owner picked up some old rotten apples from his garden and asked her to have them. She took them for not wanting to appear rude.

Not long after she got sacked by the local council on account of her having received a bribe (these withered rotten apples).

Therefore no way. Doughnuts are nice but i can afford to buy my own... don't need some one-eyed freak man waving a doughnut in my face. Freaky.

"Easy come, easy go." That is my motto. I would accept the doughnut from the greasy, wierd, one-eyed man (or woman), not only to be polite, but to pass it on to the next "greasy, wierd, one-eyed man" or woman, and then go about my own merry way. Yeah, I would do that.
