A signature characteristic of ipods is the fact that they are so slim and small. To build an FM tuner into an ipod would either make it chunky or{to try to keep it slim} make it very large but still slim. Another possible answer is that making the FM tuner small enough to keep the ipods nice and thin is so expensive that no noe would be able to buy it without selling the house.
If you want a 30GB player {with Wi-Fi}, try the Archos 604{mp4} It's a bit chunky and heavy, but it is a beautiful hand-held mediaplayer weighing 10 ounes and has a touch screen with a great picture quality. {Personally it's wonderful for me}

I-pod have created a market for listening to your own music, watching your own movies & other videos, being able to view photo slide shows & now play games on a tiny little device that fits within you pocket. Its not cheap at the moment and if they added a built in device of a radio tuner it would increase the price and also alter what the i-pod was designed for.
buy a cheap portable radio if you want to go with you i-pod so that you can listen to the radio, you can pick up some radios for around $10 to $20

If you reaally like to listen to commercials, interrupted by an occasional song, you can get an aftermarket FM tuner to fit your iPod. Check with Radio Shack or Circuit City.
