You shouldn't freak out and it can wait, but you do want to call you OB/GYN when they reopen to tell him or her what is going on.

um... there a 3 reasons to be spotting at this time... 1. some ladies bleed when there period would be due (4,8,12,16weeks is normal as long as no cramping etc) 2. small part of Placenta ripping off, meaning a bit of the wall lining may have teared off, and causing bleeding, as normal. and you should be fine.... if heavy and red/cramping = doctor 3., Means threatned mis/c i had the same at 16weeks. it was a brown/Dark red spotting/discharge that came and went for a week. All doctor recommend was strict bed rest and drink lots of fluid.(no lifting,working)etc.. if the cramps get worse go to the E.R and if not just give your doc a call and ask him if to come in for checkup(check cervix) or not. i think you should be fine. Threatned mis/c is a 50/50 thing. most go on as other dont. but you really should be ok. hope i helped, at this time. doc will only be able to tell whats happening. God Bless xx

I just spent a week and a half on bedrest because of bleeding over xmas this year, which of most the last week was spent with brown discharge, sometimes very clotty.
While the babies (I'm having twins) are ok-the amount of blood was not okay.
My Dr. was concerned, and I think you should notify yours and let him or her decide any further action. My Dr. did say, yes that brown is old blood.

Brown is usually old blood, and generally not worrisome. The cervix will bleed a little when you have intercourse or have had a cervical exam. You may spot brown the next day or two afterwards. Worry when the bleeding is bright red and looks like a period.

Make sure to get an ultrasound to check for a heartbeat. When I had brownish discharge at 8.5 weeks, it ended up being a blighted ovum pregnancy (the gestational and yolk sacs develop, but not the embryo). I miscarried a week and a half later.

Dark brown is old blood, probably just left over from whatever made you bleed a few days ago.
It's the bright red, fresh blood that you would be more concerned about.
If you were OK then, you most likely are OK now.

It's not "normal" but I wouldn't freak out. Brown means old, but if you are cramping that's different. If you are worried or cramping call the doctor back.
