The West Wing (don't know how I'll survive without it but at least Josh and Donna got it together);

Cagney and Lacey;

M*A*S*H, of course,

and then some of the superb series like Pride and Prejudice, Brideshead Revisited, The Jewel in the Crown, and Edge of Darkness.

From which I reflect that when the USA does a long series it tends to excel and when the Brits do a medium-sized adaptation they excel. I wonder whether a survey would bear that out?

The Office (US version) - it's got all the ingredients for a great show. The writing is unbelievably funny and intelligent. The cast is amazing. Every single one of the actors/actresses on that show are geniuses. I like shows that I can relate to, and who doesn't know someone like all the characters on this show?

If you haven't seen it, I highly suggest you tune it.
