doctors go by what 'should' be according to the book. I am 15 weeks and I can feel him move somtimes. Sometimes he swims right into my uteran wall. The baby moves around all over in my uterus. By now your uterus has grown up to your belly button and is 18 cm long. So you have a wide area that your baby swims in. My first one I didn't feel till about 5 or 6 months which the docotors agree.. but with this one i felt him around 14 weeks. People say it is gas, but you don't get gas IN your uterus. The tightening could be you growing or the baby laying or leaning on one side and thus putting weight there

If it's your first pregnancy it may take you longer to recognize the feeling. It happened for me sooner with my second.

For me, it felt like butterflies but not in the belly. It was lower like a few inches above the hairline and mostly central.

But that's just me.

At first, it feels exactly like gas bubbles. There are little pops and some rolling around. Your uterus should be about to your bellybutton or so....You can feel movement anywhere in your uterus, and you should be feeling something by now. Once you realize what it is, you'll be feeling it all the time.

At 18weeks it is the earliest you could feel something but it is like butterflies inside you... it is not really easy to describe but I do not think what you described is the baby. Don't try too hard.

To me, it felt like butterfly wings -- very subtle, and low down.
