If you're still near the beginning of the game I would recommend just skipping it for now and moving on to further yourself in the game.

If you're talking about hunts, the second hunt is for Thextera.
He's a fairly straightfoward fight, doesn't have many tricks up his sleeves except for calling for wolf reinforcements when his HP runs low.
This is an extremely difficult or near impossible fight for if you've just got one character in your party. If you're attempting to fight this guy with just Vaan, I would recommend returning when you have three people in your party. You may be able to win with two, but I remember fighting him with a full 3 person party.
The only thing to do really is focus on killing first the wolves that accompany him, then bear down on Thextera, healing your party with potions or Cure when they're low on HP. When Thextera calls for more wolves, just make sure to take them out first or you'll be facing attacks from many opponents all at once.
There's nothing more to the fight - you may just be simply outmanned and / or underpowered.
