I have a GM truck rear end with 4.56 gears and a Detroit locker posi. I also have another rear end with 3.73 gears and a Gov-lock limited slip. Both rear ends are GM 10.5 ring gear and full floating axles. What I would like to know is will the Detroit locker fit inside the Gov-lock housing or do I need another housing to make it work with the 3.73 gears. Both rears come from a 1985 K30. I hope someone could tell me before I have to tear both down just to find out! Thanks! Happy New Year!

The housings are the same, just different stuff in them.
If you have complete rear ends, just swap the whole thing and do away with the expense of setting up the gears again.
