In my opinion - It's totally worth it. Depending on where you live "shop rate" for a mechanic can be as high as $95/hour. As long as this guy knows what he is doing it sounds like a fair deal. Good Luck!

It's a great deal only if the job works once it's done. One problem supplying your own parts, is that you can't go back to him for total responsibility and warranty for all parts and labor. I suggest asking him to price out the whole job, breaking out parts and labor separately. He can buy the parts at a discount and you may not be able to. What if the new pump you buy turns out to be bad? Then you have to pay for labor and get the pump exchanged. But if he buys the part, he's responsible for the warranty on the complete job. By the way, ask him how long his warranty is if he does the whole job.

That is a good price. A water pump and serpentine replacement on that vehicle is at least a 2 hour project. Most repair shops charge 50.00 plus per hour

Check prices at your local Auto-parts stores in your area for the parts
Should be less than , or around $80.00 for both.
You tell me. Is your car on the road and inspected? Is it worth $150.00 ?
I wouldn't put a water pump on your car for $70.00 That guy is cheap.

Yes it's worth it. What are you talking money wise $150 total. Can you do it yourself? If you can you'll save the $70.00 labor.

You can do it yourself and save labor but if you don't know how it should pay about 1 hour labor to do it.
