i need to know how many gigs of memory each ipod containd (max and min) and information can help. thank you.

1st generation - 5 and 10 GB
2nd generation - 10 and 20 GB
3rd generation - 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 GB
4th generation - 20, 30, 40 and 60 GB
5th generation - 30, 60 and 80 GB

i think the first ipod had 4gb, i could be wrong. the old ipod nanos had 3gb, the new ipod nanos have four or eight gb, i depends on how nuch you pay. the shuffles both only had/have 1 gb. i dont know about the U2 ipod. to find out you can go to apple.com and click on ipod family.

the original had 1gig and now there is 2,4,5,10,7,8,20 and there is one that u can get with like 100 gig but that is pretty far at 10 so yah theres a lot of gigs and types but it depends how many songs you would want

if your warranty is expired they are probably not going to replace it for free it sounds like you've tried everything you should have maybe take it to an apple store and see what they can do
