No, different cultures have different customs. Some good luck foods include: grapes -- eat 12, one for every chime of the hour at midnight. (Spanish/Latino cultures.) Greens, for money. Cornbread, for gold. Black-eyed peas (American south). In some cultures fish is lucky on New Year's, (Japanese, I think) but in others (Hungarian) fish is to be avoided because your luck might swim away. Enjoy, and have a lucky and happy 2007!

Don't know about symbolism but we are having roast beef with all the trimmings.....yum yum
