yes, with certain exceptions.

Regular text messages count both incoming AND outgoing.

This is why I reccommend a text plan to parents getting phones for their kids. You can forbid "junior" from sending a text, but you can't stop his friends from sending them to him.

Text messages from Sprint (such as billing warnings and such...) do not count against a plan or cost any on the bill.

Txt messages from "premium" services, (Think 'joke-of-the-day' or 'dating' messages from television ads) can cost as much as $10.00 per message and are NOT controlled by Sprint. You have to cancel those with the sender. (IF you can find them!)

First Dump Sprint/Nextel. They've been rated along with Cingular as the worst celluar services period. Second. Go with verizon because you can pay 5 dollars a month for text, pix and flix. and any of those you send to another verizon user is free, only if you have it on your plan.

Yes. Even if you have a plan allowing so many texts the incomming will count as one. Further, if the text is international incoming, there may be a charge even if you do have a plan that allows X number of texts per month.

you are charged for each message sent/recieved. No included texts with Sprint together with Nextel; just charge per use (incoming and outgoing).
